Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DarkBlue Apps ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Bible Afrikaans mobile application (the "App"). We built the App to be private by design: most of your activity stays on your device, and you can use the App without creating an account.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. No account required
You do not need to register, sign in, or create an account to use the App. There is no login and no social sign-in. You can read Scripture, take notes, listen to audio, and use the other features as a guest.
2. Information we do not collect
We want to be clear about what the App does not do:
- We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- There is no user account, no login, and no social-media sign-in.
- There is no community, public profile, feed, or leaderboard, so nothing you write is shared with or visible to other users.
- We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
3. Information stored on your device
The personal content you create in the App is stored locally on your device. We do not upload it to our servers, and we cannot read it. This includes:
- Bookmarks, highlights, and notes attached to verses;
- Journal entries (title, text, mood, tags, and any images or files you attach);
- Reading plans and your progress within them;
- Reading statistics such as streaks, chapters read, time spent reading, and gamification data (levels, experience points, achievements, prayer counter);
- Your preferences, including selected Bible versions, fonts, colors, dark/sepia mode, audio voice and speed, background-music settings, and reminder times.
Because this data lives on your device, deleting the App (or clearing its data in the App) removes it. It is included in your device's normal iCloud/iTunes device backups if you have those enabled by Apple; we do not control or access those backups.
4. Information processed by our servers
A small number of features connect to our backend server. When they do, the request is encrypted in transit.
AI question & answer ("Ask Divine")
When you ask a question about a verse or topic using the AI feature, the following is sent to our
backend (bible.vinvite.in) so the AI can generate a response:
- the text of your question;
- a random device/user identifier (see Section 5);
- a conversation identifier, so follow-up questions keep their context;
- the topic you selected, if any.
The generated answer is returned to your device. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your questions. The AI response is generated automatically and may be inaccurate — see our Terms of Use for the full disclaimer.
Subscription and purchase records
When you buy a subscription or make an in-app purchase, we record the purchase and your premium entitlement (for example, the product purchased, transaction identifiers, and expiry) against your device identifier so we can keep premium features unlocked and support "Restore Purchases." Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple — we never receive your card or payment details (see Section 8).
5. Device identifier
On first launch the App generates a random identifier (a UUID) for your installation. This identifier is not derived from your name, email, or hardware, and it does not identify you personally. We use it to associate AI conversations and subscription entitlements with your installation. If you delete and reinstall the App, a new identifier is generated.
6. Third-party services
The App uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, and the data they process is governed by those policies:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store / StoreKit | Processes all in-app purchases and subscriptions. | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Google AdMob (Google) | Displays advertisements to non-premium users. | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) | Presents the advertising consent form where required (e.g., GDPR/CCPA regions). | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Firebase Analytics (Google) | Aggregated, app-usage analytics (e.g., app-launch events) to help us improve the App. | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| OneSignal | Delivers push notifications (only if you allow notifications). | onesignal.com/privacy_policy |
| Apple SKAdNetwork | Privacy-preserving measurement of ad campaign performance. This is handled by Apple and does not identify you individually. | apple.com/legal/privacy |
These services may process technical data such as a device advertising identifier, IP address, device model, operating-system version, and general usage or diagnostic information in order to provide their functions.
7. Advertising and your choices
For users who are not subscribed to premium, the App shows advertisements (banner ads and app-open ads) provided by Google AdMob. Where required by law (for example, in the EEA, UK, or California), a consent form is presented before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice through that form.
The App does not display a separate App Tracking Transparency (IDFA) prompt. Advertising consent is managed through the Google consent form described above.
8. Purchases and subscriptions
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your credit card number or other payment details. We store only the record of your purchase and entitlement as described in Section 4. For the commercial terms of subscriptions and purchases, please see our Terms of Use.
9. Notifications
The App can send you notifications, and you are always in control:
- Local reminders (daily verse and reading-streak reminders) are scheduled on your device. You can turn them on or off within the App and adjust the times.
- Push notifications are delivered through OneSignal and require your permission. You can disable them at any time in the App or in your device's Settings › Notifications.
10. Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age required by your local law to consent to data processing (for example, under 13 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect names, emails, or accounts, we do not knowingly hold such information. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Data retention and deletion
- On-device data: you can delete your notes, journal entries, bookmarks, highlights, and plans within the App at any time. Deleting the App removes all on-device data.
- Server-side data: AI conversation records and subscription/entitlement records are retained only as long as needed to provide and support the relevant features. You can request deletion of server-side data associated with your device identifier by contacting us (see Section 15).
12. Security
Communication between the App and our backend is encrypted in transit. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we process.
13. International users
Our backend is operated in India, and the limited server-side data described above is processed there. By using the App, you understand that this information may be processed in India, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted where practicable. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
