These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and DarkBlue Apps ("we", "us", or "our") governing your use of the Bible Afrikaans mobile application (the "App"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Eligibility and no account required
You may use the App without creating an account or signing in. You must be old enough under the laws of your country to agree to these Terms; if you are a minor, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. Licence to use the App
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on Apple devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and to Apple's App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
4. Scripture content
The App presents Bible translations that are in the public domain, along with related study material. While we aim for accuracy, Scripture text and supporting content are provided "as is" without warranty of completeness or freedom from error. Translations may differ from editions you use elsewhere.
5. AI question & answer disclaimer
The App includes an AI feature ("Ask Divine") that generates explanations and responses to your questions. You acknowledge and agree that:
- responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading;
- the AI is not a substitute for Scripture, prayer, or guidance from a qualified pastor, priest, or spiritual leader;
- the AI does not provide professional advice of any kind, including medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and you should consult a qualified professional for such matters;
- you use AI responses at your own discretion and risk, and you should verify important information against trusted sources.
Please do not submit sensitive personal information in your questions.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the App to:
- violate any applicable law or regulation;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or our servers;
- submit content or requests that are unlawful, abusive, or intended to harm others;
- attempt to circumvent purchase, entitlement, or advertising mechanisms.
7. Your content
Notes, journal entries, bookmarks, highlights, and reading plans that you create are stored on your device and are not uploaded to us. You are solely responsible for your content and for keeping your own backups. We are not responsible for any loss of on-device content, including loss resulting from deleting the App or from device issues.
8. Subscriptions and in-app purchases
8.1 Premium subscriptions
The App offers optional premium subscriptions on an auto-renewable basis in the following billing periods: Monthly, Quarterly (every 3 months), and Yearly. A premium subscription unlocks:
- an ad-free experience;
- faster AI responses; and
- extended AI usage limits.
8.2 Lifetime option
The App also offers a one-time Lifetime purchase that unlocks the same premium features permanently for the installation and does not auto-renew.
8.3 Auto-renewal terms
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your device's Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions at any time.
- Cancelling stops future renewals; the current paid period is not refunded and remains active until it expires. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during an active period.
8.4 Free trial
The App does not currently offer a free trial. If a free or introductory offer is made available in the future, any unused portion of a free period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
8.5 Restore purchases
If you reinstall the App or use a new device signed in to the same Apple ID, you can restore a previous purchase using the "Restore Purchases" option on the subscription screen.
8.6 Donations
The App offers optional one-time donations (in several tiers) to support ongoing development. Donations are voluntary, are processed as in-app purchases through Apple, and do not unlock premium features. Donations are generally non-refundable except where required by law.
8.7 Payments, prices, and refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms. Prices may vary by region and may change over time; any price change to a subscription will apply only after appropriate notice and in accordance with App Store rules. Refunds, where available, are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies. Requests for refunds must generally be made to Apple, not to us.
9. Third-party services and advertising
The App uses third-party services (including Google AdMob, the Google User Messaging Platform, Google Firebase Analytics, and OneSignal) as described in our Privacy Policy. For users who are not subscribed to premium, the App displays advertisements; a premium subscription or the lifetime purchase removes advertising. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and policies, and we are not responsible for those services.
10. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, logos, audio, and original content (excluding public-domain Scripture text and third-party materials), is owned by DarkBlue Apps and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the licence granted in Section 3, no rights are transferred to you.
11. Disclaimers
THE APP AND ALL CONTENT AND FEATURES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DARKBLUE APPS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP. TO THE EXTENT LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US (IF ANY) FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DarkBlue Apps from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the App or your violation of these Terms or of any applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App or its features if you violate these Terms or misuse the App. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to applicable law, the courts located in India shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App. Nothing in this section deprives you of any mandatory consumer protections available under the laws of your country of residence.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
